Success After 600 Rejection Slips — Nikki Rosen

the call of the wild-resized-600.JPGI read the book in school and loved it. It was a story set in nature….of a wolf….and seeing things from the animal’s perspective.
But the story wasn’t only about an animal…it was about human nature…and violence, decency and redemption. The Call of The Wild by Jack London was a fabulous read.

Jack London became the highest paid and most popular author of his time, but the road to fame wasn’t an easy one for him. Decorating the walls at his estate in California are some of the 600 rejections he received early on in his career. 600!!! I’m not sure I would have had the perseverance to keep writing but London did. His push to keep at it…to keep plugging away at the craft….ended up earning him huge success.

And like many writers….London wrote what he knew.

  • He grew up dirt poor and worked in awful places to get by.
  • He loved adventure and took off on the high seas to journey to Alaska.
  • He wrote from his experiences….tackling tough issues about life and death and the struggle to survive with dignity and integrity.

Knowing how London rose to the top of his game….inspires me to never give up…to keep plugging away….to keep writing and holding onto the dream in my heart to be a writer. And to remember….to be a champion…always follow my heart.

Please share ways you stay inspired and motivated with us.
