Writing on the Ark by Brenda J Wood

Noah sits blissfully at his desk on the ark, surrounded by bleating sheep, roaring lions, and difficult relatives.

He has an obligation to record the daily goings-on in his new book, Live the Life You Dreamed.

His wife calls him to dinner. His kids want attention. The squirrels steal into birdcages and steal food. The tigers lack stewing beef and eye the cattle with determination. The ark sways every time the hippos roll over. There is no end of trouble.

But Noah knows his job is to write, write, and write some more. What to do? Oh, what to do?

This is us during lockdown pandemic season, my friends.

We are called to write, but there is never enough time. The spouse needs attention. Someone has to supervise children schooling online. Everybody wants something different for dinner. The stores are shut down.

But you know that God called you to write, write, and write some more. How can we feed our family while writing the great epic of the year?

Take heart and help from “For the Write of It.”  Yes, you can write a book and still feed your family! Here is a recipe to get you started.

Fabulous Crock Pot Stew

1-2 pounds stewing beef
chunks of potatoes, carrots, and onions
salsa
mushroom soup
water

Wipe the meat dry.
Brown the meat lightly (optional).
Place meat in slow cooker.
Add enough vegetables to feed your family. (I use a jar of drained pickled cocktail onions instead of plain old sliced. Suddenly you are a gourmet cook!)
Top with 4-5 tablespoons of salsa, ½ cup of water and 1-2 cans of mushroom soup.
Turn on slow cooker (I tell you this because one day I forgot!)
Cooking time varies with slow cooker, but usually 5-6 hours on high.
Serve!

Your mind certainly works in wonderful ways, Brenda. The visual your words conjure up is amusing, and the recipe will be tried, for sure.

So true, Brenda! ? I’d like to read Noah’s book. I wonder if he ever got finished with everything going on around him. Haha
