Calgary - Our group has about 6 people meeting on a monthly
basis. We not only share about our writing, but also prayer requests as
they come up. It's been a close-knit group so far, though we welcome newcomers
too. Janet
Seever is the leader and contact person. |

His Imprint Ruth Keighley
is now the contact person. Our group is a tremendous blessing. We have
an average of 6-7 in our core group. We spend a lot of time sharing our
work and giving each other encouragement. We find it challenges us and
prods us on to be faithful in our writing. We are planning to put on a
Spring Workshop. |

Manitoba Christian Writers’ Association - We began
the fall season on September 12 with nineteen people signing up and paying
$25/yr as members. Three others each paid the $3/meeting guest fee as “friends
of MCWA”. I am confident that several former members not present at that meeting
will indeed join in October and we welcome visitors—always. Our mandate, agenda
and calendar appear on the front cover of our 2009-2010 Member Handbook. We meet
one Saturday per month from 1:30 to 4:00 P.M. at Bleak House Centre, 1637 Main
Street, Winnipeg, MB R2V 1Y8. Our President is Irene Lo Scerbo, Vice President
is Pat Gerbrandt, with Frieda Martns as treasurer and La’Costa Godbout and Betty
Barkman as Members at Large. |

| We meet in my house a few miles out of
the village of Foremost about every three months. We call ourselves
"Ready Writers" and most of the participants are from our large house
church. There are usually about ten of us, mostly young men and women.
There are two of us who don't qualify for that age distinction (read
"older"), and we are fathers of some of the writers, as well as
writers ourselves. There is a really nice mix of genres: from poetry,
to humorous prose, to a novel in the works. ~ Craig Funston |

Swan River – Our group has an
average attendance of 9 people. The first meeting (in September) we had
Maria Rogalski (from the Winnipeg group - MCWA) as our special speaker.
This was very enjoyable and we all learned more about our writing gifts.
She is a very special lady. Recently I shared a report from the
Inscribe Fall Conference. I made it
like mini workshops, one for poetry and one for Marcia’s workshop. Then
everyone shared their writing. It was a good tool to get to know one
another better. In January, Lyn Kublick (one of our members) will
organize a contest again for the children of Christian schools and
home-schoolers. The topic will be "love" and the winners will share
their writing at our meeting in February 2007. She did it last year with
the topic "Easter." It was very successful. We will also again set up a
table at the local Co-op with used books, baking, crafts etc to use as a
fundraising. We will do this just before Valentine's Day instead of
Christmas. When we have finished another good session I sigh and thank
the Lord for His goodness and love to us in providing the opportunity to
use our writing for His glory. I read our "statement of purpose" out
every month, so the people know what our purpose is, what we are doing
and for Who. Addy Oberlin |

Women Word Weavers - Some of our members are getting published,
while others are presently pursuing their own writing interests. For
this year we are taking turns writing a 500-word column for the section
of our local newspaper that serves Barrhead, Westlock, and Athabasca, as
well as surrounding rural districts. For the third year, we have been
invited to participate in a Wine and Cheese and Poetry Evening in
November. Sharon Espeseth

Women Writing for Christ (WWC) Our group numbers 5 and meets
every 3rd Thursday. Our meetings take on various formats. Currently,
each one of us is taking a subject on the techniques of writing and
preparing a 'lesson.' This has proven very helpful, especially for the
one preparing it! We usually have 'homework' that most participate in.
When that happens, it can be very beneficial to all of us as we share
what we have done. Occasionally we'll have a 'set your timer for five
and go' exercise when we are challenged by a word or picture (or both)
to write non-stop for five minutes. That can be a stretch and yet a lot
of fun when we compare the differences we all take from the same word or
picture. If any one of us are in the middle of a particular work, we may
bring part of it to share and ask for help in a particular area, such as
POV, character development, plot flow, etc. There is also opportunity to
share from 'help' books that any one of us may be reading.
